The 4 Desert series attracts a diverse range of individuals and teams that come from all over the world to participate. Each 4 Deserts event typically features more than 20 nationalities with equal numbers coming from Asia, North America and Europe. We normally have a handful from Africa and South America. The ages range from 21 to 73 with an average age of 39. With special permission, we may accept someone who is under the age of 21. There is no upper age limit. In the past the events have had 80% men and 20% women although we are making a major effort to attract more women. The majority of the competitors are working professionals such as investment bankers, attorneys, CEOs, managers, etc. We also attract stay-at-home mothers and fathers, graduate students, teachers, medical doctors and entrepreneurs. We do not give a preference to any one nationality and
make a great effort to ensure that competitors from all countries feel right at home.
The Pioneers
Below are the profiles of the fifteen individuals who were the first to finish every leg of the 4 Deserts series. They are a great sampling of the types of personalities attracted to the events.
